As a dog lover, Nicki has often integrated her dogs into classroom books or lessons to engage students with various reading concepts during her career in education. Students not only learn the foundational stepping stones to reading, but also have a lot of fun!  It is her hope that this Brilliant Readers series will not only help your students understand the foundational principles of reading, but will also enjoy the journey along the way.

About NICKI

Nicki Winter, MEd, LDT, CALT, has a passion to teach students the stepping stones to reading. Providing the tools in an interactive way builds students’ reading foundations. With her career in education, Winter desires to increase not only students’ reading skills but also their self-esteem. As author of Brilliant Strengths: A Strengths-Based Program Designed to Raise Self-Esteem and Lower Anxiety in Students with Dyslexia, she empowers students to see themselves through the lens of their strengths. 

Along with spending time with her family and friends, Winter loves to eat cake, drink tea, and add to her collection of children’s books. She lives in Grapevine, Texas, with her husband, two children, and two dogs, Reggie and Lucy.
